Gialova is a small, sun-drenched village on the western coast of Messinia, sitting at the edge of a beautiful lagoon and just a short walk from Voidokilia — one of the most famous beaches in Greece. It is the kind of place where days unfold slowly between the beach, a long lunch, and an evening stroll along the waterfront.
Voidokilia is approximately 3 km north of Gialova. You can reach it by car in 5 minutes (there is a dirt road to the parking area) or on foot in about 20 minutes via the scenic trail that crosses the sandbar of the lagoon. Most visitors walk in the morning and drive in the afternoon heat.
Very much so. The village beach has calm, shallow water and is supervised during summer. Voidokilia is also exceptionally family-friendly thanks to its gentle slope and sheltered bay. Several accommodations in the village cater specifically to families.
