Kardamili and Stoupa are the two most celebrated villages of the outer Mani — jewels of the Messinian coastline strung along a road that ranks among the most scenic in the Mediterranean. A private day tour from Kalamata or Costa Navarino allows you to explore both at your own pace: ancient tower houses, gorge hiking, crystalline swimming coves and authentic local tavernas, all within a single unhurried day.
Absolutely. The Old Village of Kardamili and the Leigh Fermor House are easily explored on foot without any hiking. Stoupa’s beaches are flat and accessible. The tour is perfectly enjoyable without any gorge walking — your driver will suggest a relaxed pace that suits your group.
Stoupa Beach is the most popular — it has calm shallow water, excellent facilities and good tavernas. For more seclusion, Foneas beach (5 km south of Stoupa) is a rocky cove with brilliant blue water and no beach bars. Your driver knows every cove on this coastline and can tailor the afternoon to your preferences.
Kardamili and Diros are in opposite directions from Kalamata. Combining them in a single day is possible but makes for a very long drive. We recommend dedicating a day to each, or choosing one depending on your priorities — beaches and villages, or caves and the Deep Mani.
